Ability to apply discount when billing

Hi Guys,

We are a natural health clinic and we give patients discounts on their supplements for their birthday day etc. We currently do this by manually working out a 20% discount (for example) on each individual item. To do this we have to barcode scan the item, work out 20% off on the calculator, enter it as a 'reduction', 'add' the reduced product, then delete the originial item we scanned. This is very time consuming, especially if the patient is buying 10 odd individual items.

Can you make an option to apply selected discounts? ie. 5%, 10%, 15% etc.

Thanks

Oh I love this!  Also the ability to give a product at the cost amount?  All our practitioners are allowed to pay at cost, but this means going into Item Management and manually working it out on the calculator.

Hi Meaghan. It's generally not advisable to make ad-hoc changes to the cost of items at the time of billing as this can introduce errors. What we recommend is that you have a fee category e.g. Staff, and for each item code that you bill, you set the price that staff pay against the Staff fee category (see below).

So long as the Staff fee category is assigned to the staff member’s patient file, when you bill them the appropriate price will appear, in this case the cost price of the item.

Hi Meaghan, we do this differently. Some of our products and products have different mark up so we couldn't do it this way, but if you guys set a set discount it would totally work.

We have all of our services and products set up under different price categories. Cost price is "VIP" and all our staff are set up as people and their fee category is set to "VIP" - this way and all our staff is "VIP" and they automatically get cost price. If this makes sense?

We offer patients promotional discounts so such a pain having to reduce things manually!

Hi Timothy,

This is good when you are using a specific fee category for a specific group of people, but what if you're doing a once off?  Especially if we have expiring products we discount/sell at cost which is very manual as FD is atm.

Would be handy if we had a manual override to adjust the product to cost price as well.

Plus we have hundreds of products, so setting this up is going to be time consuming.

Hi Ellee. At this stage, you are unable to add a percentage discount at the time of billing. In some circumstances, special pricing can be applied using the fee category method (see Meaghan’s post above).

We do believe that this is a good idea and will look at changing the reduction text box on the bill/receipt screens to include a drop-down list with some standard discount percentages. So as not to have an overwhelming number of options, we are thinking of including 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% reduction rates. We would like to see what the Community thinks of this, so please reply to let us know your thoughts.

Hi Tim, this would be fantastic for us, thank you. The only other thing I would ask is if a 50% was added as well, so for example   5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% & 50%

Great idea Ellee!
Your options would work for us, Tim.   We apply a 15% or 20% discount for supplements to those on a naturopathic "package", and on the "bill" screen we always round the "reduction" down to the nearest 0.05 cents, so that the discounted price is actually rounded up.
Thanks v. much, Joyaa

Hi Tim,
Will that be possible to add a "custom %" in the list so that we can manually enter the discount rate? We run a different program on services discounts which sometimes can involve 7.5% off. Awkward, isn't it?

hi Tim, I'd also like to see this ability. Currently when we do a promo or know we need a fee reduction we create a new item number with the reduction in it, this also allows us to report on the promo item number to see how it went. eg. for physio an initial assessment is 500 so our new item code might be 500PR and then we put in the price we want it. Some other great ideas mentioned above as well, thanks everyone. :)

Hopefully we will see this happen soon, I just read about the changes with the new update and it is still not possible.

Hi Ellee. Work is underway on the discount feature. We're aiming to release this in an upgrade in the near future.

Hi Tim,
What is the update on this?
We had a black Friday sale on Friday and sold 650 items; we had to individually reduce 650 items. It was absolute nightmare because we didn't have this function.
Its all well and good to say your working on it, but a deadline or would be appreciated.
Thanks
