Ability to update stock levels GLOBALLY following a stock take

Hi All,

Those of you who stock large numbers of products (e.g., if you are in nutritional or naturopathic practices) will recognise this issue:

The nutritional side of our practice has just completed their manual 6-monthly stock take. They have been through some 450 - 500 items on the shelves and checked each item against the "stock level report". Where there are errors they make a "stock adjustment" or "stock arrival". This part of the system works very well.

Once this part of the stock take is complete, CURRENTLY the staff have to go through all 450-500 item codes, one by one, go to the "stock control" tab for each, and update whatever is in the "quantity" box with whatever is in the "current" box, and change the time stamp to " Now". This sequence needs to be done some 450-500 times! It takes them hours and in the meantime they are trying NOT to sell any more stock because this throws out the levels.

We are seeking a way to make a global update. Probably under the File> Item Codes list (where "stock arrival" etc. currently sit). We would like the ability to update all products within a selected schedule at one go: to change whatever is in the "quantity" box to become whatever is in the "current" box, and to update the date stamp to be "now". It is a capability that would require warning messages OR may be an Admin-only function (in which case under System Info>Advanced.

Please support this brilliant idea!

Hi Joyaa,

we too stock a large number of products, so our stocktake and stock levels updates takes a VERY long time also.

We would very much support a way to update multiple stock levels, or all stock, as at stocktake time, at once.

An easy way would be to export stock levels in excel, update and then re-import to update the levels?
