Hi, would it be at all possible for you to consider adding a Recall Date letter tag to the SMS templates in the next update? We'd really like to use it in reminder texts to our patients about the items they have due back. Thanks!

Normally the recall date is used as a filter by practice staff to find or be alerted of recalls due. Generally the recall date wouldn't be used in communications with a patient. If you have already made an appointment for the patient, the appointment date can certainly be used as a tag in a recall.

How are you using the recall date in your correspondence with patients?

There is a workaround to allow you to insert the recall date in your SMS or email reminders by using the Group SMS/Email function.

Run your Recall Patient List and enable the appropriate filters.

Select Export to export the list to Excel where the Recall Date is listed in its own column.

Filter out patients as required and save the Excel document to a file directory.

In Front Desk, select System > Send SMS > Group SMS

Select Import List and browse for the Excel file you saved.

Having imported the list of patients from an Excel spreadsheet, you will be able to incorporate the <> tag into your message to add the respective patient’s recall date.

We hope this helps!

Hi Timothy,

Thank you so much for your very extensive reply! At this stage, we are only using the recall date within SMSs to remind the patients of when their hire item is due back. The text will be sent 2 days prior (through a delayed text set on the same day the item is taken for hire) to the recall date in order to jog their memories. For the moment, there are not many items hired out (at most, 3 recalls on one day), so it would currently be more efficient to individually text patients and manually adjust the recall date in the text template. However, if our hire item program grows significantly, this will be a fantastic way to let patients know when their item is due back, without the hassle of individually setting delayed texts.

In the meantime, with minimal items hired out, we'll continue setting delayed texts and adjusting the date. Hopefully there'll be a recall date letter tag in the future!

Thank you once again for all you help, we really appreciate it!

Kind regards,
