Appointment already in when adding new appointment

When entering a new appointment, we get the comment that "... already has an appointment on ...." if the patient already has an appointment on that day. When this happens, is it possible to cancel the new appointment you are entering? At present, we have to enter the appointment and then cancel it out.

If I understand what you are asking Trevor, I'd vote against this (respectfully!).
If the client already has an appointment on that day then you can simply drag and drop their app't from the old time to the new.   More often the "already has an appointment" refers to some future date rather than "on that day" and we find the current system provides a natural safeguard from automatically deleting an app't the client may end up wanting.
However, I agree that sometimes we forget to remove the "future" appointment!  But that's our bad, because the system did remind us ....

Not sure if I explained it well. When we 'make next appointment', we click on the new cell and if we already have another future appointment that we are not aware of, not necessarily on that day, we get 'already has an appointment'. At that time, I would like to make a decision to either accept the new appointment or not as we may not need this new one.

I made this point to Smartsoft way back in the old days before the forum started but nothing happened.  It is VERY annoying.  I go to make a future appointment for a patient I have just seen and I get a warning that they already have a future appointment and this includes the date and time of that appointment.  This is EXTREMELY useful.  However if at that point the patient says that they will keep the appointment they already have there is no way of aborting making another future appointment which then has to be deleted.  Similarly if they say they don't want the existing appointment but will keep the new one then after making the new one I have to go and cancel the preexisting one.
SUGGESTION: When going to maike a future appointment and there is already an existing one along with the wanrning of an existing appointment provide 3 choices 1) Keep existing appointment and do not make new appointment   2) Cancel existing appointment and make new appointment   3) Keep existing appointment and make new appointment.   With one click on the appropriate action the problem is solved.
