Appointment type defaults to New when making any kind of booking

How do I get it to default to "standard" instead of "new patient podiatry appointment" when making any kind of appointment? Standard is the very first appointment type listed on our system, and the New's are halfway down the list, and yet, that's what FD defaults to every time we go to make an appointment. Which is fine when you are experienced with the program, but when you are new to FD, or you are one of our therapists who doesn't traditionally book appointments, it becomes a hassle - especially when the default time for a New client is 40 minutes, not 20 as per our standard appointments. Is there any way around this?

Have you checked your Options? I'm sure there is a setting that says what the Default Appt Type etc

Yup - look on the Practitioner icon. Choose the podiatrist you want to set up the default for, and look at the 3rd and 4th tabs - 3rd tab will set up the default item codes for them, and the 4th tab will deal with the appointment type.

Hi Mandi. As Meaghan has suggested, this sounds like a configuration issue. Please open up a support case at ww.smartsoft.com.au/support so that one of our helpdesk staff can assist you with this.

I'm not sure if this is relevant to your system, but it might be something to check.  In System Information go to Appointment Book.  Select Appointment Types tab.  Select Defaults and Follow-up Appointments tab.  You have the option to select Default Appointment (we have selected standard) and Default New Appointment (we have selected new appointment).  Hope this helps :)

Thank you everyone for your assistance - I've found it, changed it and hopefully it's all working now! When 90% of our therapists are Physios, having it come up at Podiatry was really annoying! It only just changed recently when we added new appointment types, I'll know for next time we do this.
