Archiving old tracking categories

I'm wondering if there is the possibility of your team developing Front Desk to enable users to just 'archive' old tracking categories without having them removed permanently from the patient files.

We like to keep track of which trials our volunteers have participated in over the years, so we add the name of the trial as a tracking category to their file.

Our dilemma is that our patient tracking list is getting very large now and has a lot of trials listed that we will never use to track any new study participants, but we still need to keep them in this list so that we can continue to track past trial volunteers and see what trials they have participated in previously.

The problem we have is that the more studies we do, the longer the tracking category list gets, but if we delete the old trials from the tracking list, that will also delete them from the individual patients file.

So if you can develop Front Desk to enable tracking categories to be archived instead of deleted, and without deleting them from the patient files, that will solve our problem perfectly.  Will that be possible?

Hi Vanessa

We think this is a good idea and have put it on our development list.

Can we also apply this principle to EVENTS?

Over the years we have created many event catagoties mainly for database sorting purpose but now they are no longer needed. We would like to either archive some of the categories or delete them so the only active events will be in the dropdown list. Currently it is impossible to delete a category that is NOT EMPTY unless you manually delete each entry that has been entered under that category.

I don't know if this request is appropriate to post here. While we are a similar topic, it is hard to pass this opportunity to ask this question which I have had for a very long time.

Hi Vanessa, to get around this we edit the tracking code by putting a 'Z' infront of it so they all sit right down the bottom. Would be nice to archive though.

Thanks for your suggestion Ellee. That is definitely something we could look at doing in the meantime. :)
