Automated SMS reminders

Hi, I would love frontdesk to automatically send the SMS reminders to my patients, without us manually doing it through the reports and utilities tabs. If someone forgets to schedule the SMS remonders to be sent, or just plain forgets to do them, this would be erased as it is automatically done! Would be a good feature. Ta

The good news is that this is already on our current development list.  We have just been considering how to do this in a full proof manner.  What we are thinking is to set a time for your SMS reminders to be sent to our gateway as a background task on your computer. This will be independent of having Front Desk running, however your computer will need to be on.  If you try to close your computer prior to the SMS reminders being sent for the day, you will receive a message asking if you want to send them at this time.  Note that using the SMS delay send feature, the actual SMS delivery can occur at another time, say the next morning, even if your computer is off at that time. There will also be some smarts to ensure that SMS are not sent more than once for any one reminder and that last minute bookings don't miss out on their reminders.

what will happen about people who dont have mobile numbers? will there be a notice to call them?

We have clients check to reminder instead of sms for those without mobile number.  You need to change this manually on the Appointment Page with the clients file.  Bottom left - reminders ... select here. 

Just note that if the client already has appointments made it does not update them automatically.  You will need to go into each appointment and change the reminder on each one. 

Any future appointments will have this new setting.

If you want to just change it on the day - right click on apt. and change reminder setting here.  This will only change that appointment.

it would save a lot of effort and mistakes if you could enable FD to send SMS's automatically at a prescribed time each day, for example, at 10AM for the next day's list. Cliniko has this feature and I can see why that woudl by pass the problem of a busy receptionist who forgets or sends them late, and for Monday patients, when no one is in on a Sunday.

Hi Melanie. This item has been approved and is high on the development list. It should be available at around the time of the Xero integration release later this year.

Will this be an option only as we like to send some appointments manually as we like certain clients to come in 15 minutes earlier than their appointment as they have paperwork to do.  Would you be able to qualify what type of appointment you want to send automatically, e.g standard appointments, and have some appointment types not sent automatically?  That would be awesome if you could

Can this also be done with email reminders? We are a mobile service so it's difficult to always be in the office to send the reminders manually.

Interested in setting up sms recalls two days prior.

Would also be interested in an automatic sms appointment reminder sent for all new client appointment when made into the diary.

Ok, can you also look into;

  • Automated Daily sms reminders
  • Automated birthday sms's
  • Any type of automated sms, like a follow up sms after a new patient booking.
  • Automated sms based on no future appointment date ranges, eg, not been in for 1 month, 3 month and 6 month.

Same for email.

Im sure the system can automate all retention style sms and emails.

Im sure you could even automate standard letters, where the system email us the completed mail merge document.
