Cloud based Software

We are a large expanding practice with locations across NSW/VIC/ACT, as our business grow we hope to continue using Smartsoft software, however we are currently unable to log into the software unless you log in remotely (which can often be slow and isn't ideal). Is there any future plans to covert Smartsoft Frontdesk into a cloudbased software (or similar) so that can be used from anywhere in Australia.

Thank you for your post. I’ll provide more information than required to answer your question as this may help other users.

When you say cloud based, I assume you mean ‘web browser’ based. Though there has been an increase in cheap browser based PMS products over the past few years, promoting ‘free trial periods’, ‘requiring no training’ and having ‘free data transfers’, they are systems that are quite rudimentary and meet only basic PMS needs. Generally no training is required as there is little to learn and the free data transfers will only import very basic data. The other problem is that you may lose control of your data, with most Web Based PMS providers hosting data overseas to save on costs.

The more traditional PMS suppliers, including those in the GP market, are still focused on desktop based systems that provide a richer interface and better connectivity to interfaces like HICAPS, Tyro, Medicare/DVA Online, document and barcode scanners etc.  To meet the needs of working from multiple locations and from any device (PC, Macs, iPads, tablets) we have several ‘enterprise’ based cloud solutions, the most common being hosting your system in the cloud on a Microsoft Terminal Server based system. This will give you a full featured desktop in the cloud. Many users report that these ‘enterprise’ based cloud solutions run quicker than having their systems hosted at their premises. Further, we do have web interfaces where they are appropriate, such as the Patient Booking Gateway and Web Appointment Book.
