HICAPS Go or Medipass Integration?

Hello Front Desk Team,

Thank you for your ongoing support. We are being introduced to a Medipass - HICAPS Mobile integration that patients and providers can use to book, quote, bill and claim online  or via their app.

Their website says they may work with different software vendors. Curious if you had dealing with, or plan to look into this.

Hi Jane. We have had some initial conversations with HICAPS and Medipass. At this stage, we are waiting for an upgrade to the HICAPS Connect software as a next step in evaluating the interface.

Does anyone have the HICAPS connected to FrontDesk and the new HICAPS GO system?

Do they integrate well?

We are yet to connect to either one or both.

Hi Sharon. We are currently waiting for HICAPS Go support in the HICAPS Connect software, which connects Front Desk to your HICAPS terminal. We believe HICAPS is still a few months away from releasing this.

Hi,

Hicaps Go transactions are separate to the Hicaps terminal transactions. We are manually entering the Hicaps Go transactions into Front Desk as 'Hicaps' for the payment method. The terminal reconciliation then doesn't balance as the Hicaps Go transactions are not included. This is fine as we can just add the totals from Medipass. It only becomes an issue if it doesn't balance and then we have to do forensics in two places! It would be helpful to have another payment method under 'Hicaps Go' for manual entering of these payments.

Hi Hilary. As above, at this stage we are still waiting for a new version of the HICAPS Connect software to support HICAPS Go. At that stage, our understanding is that you will not need to leave Front Desk to process claims using HICAPS Go and they will all be included within your HICAPS totals. 

For now, perhaps you can use one of the other payment dissection types, such as Credit Card, which is no longer commonly used due to EFTPOS, as a temporary measure.

As a general question to the Community, who is using HICAPS Go and how is it working for you?

We have HICAPS Go.  Not many people are using it at the moment, but it would be great to have Smartsoft integration before it takes off and is used more widely. It is clunky moving between both systems and manually entering the information from HICAPS Go to Smartsoft and then conducting reconciliations. Should be good once both systems are intergrated though!

Hi Amber. As we are a certified HICAPS integration partner, Front Desk integration with HICAPS Go will come through a future update to the HICAPS Connect software, supplied by HICAPS. At this stage, we are still waiting for HICAPS to release this update, which appears to have been delayed. As per the HICAPS website (https://www.hicaps.com.au/forms/faqs):

“HICAPS Connect integration (for non-cloud based PMS) is also under way and will be up and running in the next few months, allowing claims and payments to be processed through the integrated PMS software.”

Our concern with the HICAPS Go claiming process is that the patient needs to download and install an application on their phone, and then correctly authorise the claim. We believe that the current HICAPS integration claiming method, where the process is controlled by practice staff, is the best option for all users with a HICAPS terminal.
