Holiday Times & Christmas Greeting by SMS

As we approach the end of year holiday period, you may want to touch base with your patients to advise them of your opening times and to wish them a safe and happy holiday season. Using standard SMS features in Front Desk is the most effective way to reach your patients.

Below is an example of an SMS Template that you can use in Front Desk. Simply copy the text between the dotted lines and paste into a template. 

Hi <<PreferredName>>. On behalf of the team at Smartsoft Clinic we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We will be closed over the holiday period from 24/12/2016 and will reopen on 3/1/2017

***Ensure you replace Smartsoft Clinic with your practice name and set the correct practice close and re-open dates*** 

With your template setup, you will now need to determine who will be receiving your SMS. As a suggestion, we recommend running a Patient List report by selecting Reports > Patient List for all patients with a transaction within the past 12 months. Please note that only patients with a phone number listed in the Mobile field on the General tab of their patient file are available to receive SMS.

Select your template using the drop-down menu. You're now ready to click Send.

For this type of greeting SMS you could override the Sender ID, which will replace the phone number at the top of the SMS that a patient receives with your Practice Name or profession, say ‘SmartClinic’ or ‘Physio’. Note that you are limited to 11 characters with no spaces. For information on regarding Sender ID please refer to the Using Sender ID section in the following article:
