Irregular Patients

Hi again,

I'm trying to figure out perhaps a better way of doing what we do.

Currently, we categorise our patients by what action they have on our system, Ie:

1. Booked: Patient has an appointment
2. Recall: Patient has no appointment, and is on recall for a future appointment
3. Mailing List: Patient has no appointment, no recall, and we're waiting for them to contact us in the future when they need us.  Patient is irregular with their treatments, for instance.
4. Archive: Patient has no appointment, no recall, hasn't had an appointment in a long time (more than 3 years), or doesn't want us to contact them anymore.

This is the way it's been done in the clinic, since well before my time.  I'm fully aware that Mailing List isn't for this purpose!  But we weren't using FD for mailouts so it didn't matter.

The clinic uses these categories for their reports.  The problem is that a lot of the reports don't cater for the "Mailing List" category on there, so the practitioner ends up having to manually check each report and figuring out who is on Mailing List and who is not.

How do some of you others handle this sort of thing?

Hi Meaghan,

We will often put people into the Patient Tracking Category (you could name it Irregular Patients). Then if you need to print it out you can see it all under Active/Inactive Patients report and customise it. You will just need to check if the other reports you do coincide with this one.

I had a feeling this might be the suggestion.  Thanks
