LANTERN PAY for TAC payments/invoicing.

Is Smartsoft looking at the addition of LANTERN PAY for TAC and NDIS payments/invoicing.

Apparently they are asking for registered interest to be launched some time later in the year.

I am looking for the TAC side only as we don't have any NDIS clients.

They are producing an app from which you invoice the account to and they pay within 24 hours providing the client has approval for treatment.

Is Smartsoft looking at this for an add on to FrontDesk processing similar to the Medicare/DVA linked payments?

Hi Sharon

We have been in initial conversations with Lantern Pay. At this stage, we are waiting for their system to be proven and running before committing to integrating with them. If it works well and is a great success, we will be happy to develop the integration for our users.

There are many new interfaces in the allied health industry that are being launched in the near future, some of which will succeed and others which won’t. It is important that we carefully use our users’ development fund costs to maximise the benefits for everyone. It should be noted that Smartsoft was the first non-dental company to integrate with HICAPS (second overall), and the first allied health practice management system to integrate with Medicare/DVA Online and Tyro HealthPoint, so we are not shy of integrating with proven systems.

Yeay, Lantern Pay has been launched for TAC payments.  Would also love to see Frontdesk become integrated with submitting payments this way.  An email I got from them today said:

"In other exciting news, LanternPay is in the final stage of integrating with a number of Practice Management Software Providers. Our integration with your PMS means you’ll be able to invoice the TAC seamlessly in your practice management systems. Our initial partners are PPMP, Healthkit, Medilink, MediFlex and Direct Control.

If you have any feedback, or if you'd like to see your PMS integrated with LanternPay, we would love to hear from you at support@lanternpay.com."

We will be more than happy to integrate with LanternPay once it is a proven system within the allied health space. For further information, please refer to our comments above.

Lantern Pay great concept.  Just be aware that they have a percentage cost associated with each payment they process.  I would suggest looking into before using.  Similar to banking and HICAPS fees.   I rang TAC and they are still accepting invoicing their usual way via post.
From my understanding NDIS doesn't have the cost associated with it as the Government is covering these costs with Lantern Pay.

Yeah I looked into it. My first reaction was why should they charge a fee, WorkSafe doesn't charge a fee to submit electronically and for TAC is should save them time and money.  For now, I can't change that, but for the cost for us to send an invoice to TAC via post is maybe $1.20 and then they take weeks to pay. Sometimes they don't get the invoice/loose it and then someone has to ring them at more cost and then have to send it again at another cost. So fee might be 75c so less than the cost of a stamp plus you get payment and remittance the same day.  So at this stage, it seems worth it.

Historically, TAC has not accepted email invoices. I would suggest that as many practices as possible contact TAC and suggest that this would be a good option (it is 2017). We are about to release a new version of Front Desk, which supports emailing of invoices in a batch.

Can you do email batches by practitioner by client as Workcover agencies don't accept multiple practitioners on the same invoice.

Hi Sharon. In the new version of Front Desk, you can complete a statement/invoice run per practitioner from any patient file, as well as in-bulk for all patient files via the Statements/Invoices report. More information on the new billing engine will be coming shortly.
