New Feature - SMS Delivery Receipts

We have some new functionality being released in an update early next week, which will allow you to view SMS delivery receipts for SMS sent through Front Desk. No more guessing if an SMS has been received by a mobile phone handset.  The delivery time is the time the SMS was received by the handset.

The next time you have a patient say “I didn’t get the reminder SMS” this will be the first place to go to investigate what happened.

Enjoy !  Josie

My sms messages under events does not show when received or sent times.   I have updated to the new version last week.  Is there somewhere I need to active it to read them?  Sharon

Hi Sharon. I think you may be looking in the wrong place as information regarding SMS sent and received is now visible on a dedicated SMS tab on the patient file. You will be able to see SMS receipts for SMS messages sent after installing the latest version of Front Desk (16.9.11).

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled SMS tab info.

We are loving the new SMS tab telling us an sms has been sent and at what time.  It would be great if sms replies would be delivered to this tab now too, rather than clogging up the notes section.  Great addition to the system, thanks!!

Hi Naomi. I have merged your post with the original article regarding this feature.

When opening the SMS tab on a patient file, you will see all messages that you have sent to the patient. Any replies that the patient has sent to each individual SMS can be viewed by clicking the plus symbol on the left of each message in this list.

I would also like to confirm that the great thing about this feature is that it is also showing you the time that the message was delivered to your patient's phone, not just the time you chose to send the SMS.

Hi Timothy.
Thanks for the update, I did notice that the replies were there, but they also are being saved in the events section as they were previously, therefore we have a record of the reply twice.  Will this feature be staying?  We use our events section regularly, to have the sms replies removes from here would be a great help for us.

Hi Naomi. Thank you for this feedback. In time we will stop adding SMS replies to the Events tab. At this stage we have chosen to record replies in both places to give our users time to adjust to the new functionality.

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to be able to 'opt' for reply SMS from clients to be emailed to a chosen email address Eg my receptionists' email inbox that is checked regularly ?

Hi Luke. By default, SMS replies will only be delivered to the Messages tab on the Appointment Book. However, you can choose for replies to be sent to an email address in addition to the Message tab via System Information > SMS:
