Online Booking Appointment Length

We allow 20 minutes for a review consultation but we do have more complex cases that require 30 minutes. These patients have a warning on their file so reception knows to allow extra time for them when they are booking over the phone/in person.

We are now having a problem when these patients book an appointment online. Is it possible to have a default appointment time button/tab/drop down box in 'Patient Booking Gateway' tab? Unfortunately it is starting to cause a few problems & our practitioners end up running late for the rest of the session.

For each appointment type you can choose how much time should be reserved for the appointment per practitioner.

However, you can’t sometimes offer 30 minutes and other times 20 minutes for the same appointment type for a practitioner.

You could perhaps create a new appointment type for the extended appointment with a specific Display Name and Description to explain to your patients when this should be selected. Your admin staff could then direct individual patients to select this option when booking online.

Most practices will simply change their procedure to have one appointment time interval for this appointment type per practitioner, in your case 30 minutes.
