online booking appointment type and item codes

Why cant you assign a specific item code to an appointment type when booking online? It is very difficult to have to go in and change every single appointment once it is booked in online. Kind of makes allowing people to book online more difficult than its worth. Is this going to be updated soon?

Hi Ashlee. It is possible to set this up in Front Desk. Follow this instructions below.

1. Head to File > Patient Booking Gateway Configuration

2. Select the Professions tab

3. Double click on the appointment type. Note that the option to 'Display appointment fees on Patient Booking Gateway' can be disabled and the item code will still be selected correctly in Front Desk

4. Set the appropriate item code to be added to the appointment per practitioner


You will need to repeat this for all appointment types offered in the gateway.

Hi Timothy, Thanks for the above answer. In addition, is it also possible to dedicate regions in the appointment book for certain appointment types?  

For example, we have certain times we like to block out for New Patients however to ensure that there is enough space available (that Standard consults don't fill these spaces) we have to make them unavailable for the Booking Gateway.  This obviously defeats the purpose while online booking.  What we're seeing because of this is that we have New Patients filling other parts of the book (in regions we'd rather have standard consults)
