Patient Booking Gateway – Appointment Book rules over the Holiday Period

As practices close for the end of year holiday period, it is important that users of the Patient Booking Gateway have correctly setup their Appointment Book rules to reflect unavailability. These instructions can assist in making sure that your rules do not allow patients to book online at times when your staff are on leave over the holiday break. 

Firstly, setting up public holidays will rule out the diary for all practitioners and no appointments can be made online on these days. Please see the article below which will walk you through ruling out whole public holidays on the diary:

Any other unavailability must be setup as a general rule on the diary for either whole days your entire practice is closed and for individual practitioners on annual leave. 

In System Information > Appointment Book > Rules you will be able to clearly see which rules allow patients to secure an appointment time online. By scanning through your list of rules, the Schedule column will tell you if appointments can be made during the times specified by the rule.

mark the entire practice as closed for several days.

Reminder: Don’t forget your Front Desk Patient Booking Gateway this Christmas! If you are closing over the Christmas period you must have Rules or Public Holidays in place to prevent users booking online.

When following the guide above don't forget to adjust the dates for 2016-2017.
