Patient Booking Gateway doesn't offer all available appointments?

So I logged on using PBG to actually book myself in for an appt one night from home, which I wanted for the next afternoon.

PBG only offered me 1 appt for the next day at 4pm, however a quick look at the Web Appt Book confirmed for me that there was also an available appt with the same practitioner at 4.20pm.

Why wouldn't it offer me this appt as well?  I ended up having to remotely connect in and book it through the FD calendar.

I tried logging off and logging on again, and logging on through a different device, but no matter what, it never offered me the next slot.

Is it maybe a setting we've got, or is this how it works?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Meaghan

Thank you for your question.

This is part of the anti-data mining (privacy) features in the Patient Booking Gateway (PBG) system. Part of this functionally prevents patients from being offered times close to each other.  This is similar logic to that used by reception staff when making an appointment over the phone.

patient: "...what times do you have available tomorrow morning ?" reception: " 9:00 or 9:45am." This is much better than "9:00, 9:15, 9:30, 9:45 or 10:00 am....or any time this morning".

The PBG is not intended to be used for practitioners to make appointments as intentionally we do not display all the appointments available at all times to protect practitioner privacy.

kind regards

Josie
Hi Josie,

This much I totally understand, and I appreciate that it works that way.

However, in this instance, the practitioner only had those 2 appointments free for the entire day.  So it would make sense to me that it might offer both in this case...

Thanks,

Meaghan

Hi Meaghan

We can certainly have a think about this to help improve the algorithm used. I assume that your appointment book is setup with 20 minute intervals with 4:00 and 4:20pm appointments being next to each other.

Note that the 4:20pm appointment time would become available automatically when the 4:00 pm one is taken.

Cheers
Josie
