Hi Community

The Smartsoft team is excited to share with our users a new project that we have been developing this year. PracSuite is a new professional grade online cloud practice management system (PMS) for the Australian allied health industry. PracSuite will not replace Front Desk but will be a separate product for those seeking a cloud/browser-based product. Note that there are advantages and disadvantages to both desktop and browser-based products. Based on individual needs, either the Front Desk or PracSuite product may suit you best.

The project is still under close wraps, but we are pleased to share with you the following:

  • Smartsoft will be using all our practice management knowledge and advanced software development skills accumulated over the past 20 years to deliver a new standard of professional browser-based PMS.
  • We are working hard to ensure that ease of use, simple workflows, advanced configuration and features, together with the high level of support that our current Front Desk users’ value is maintained.
  • Smartsoft will not be compromising on security and protection of your data, together with high availability through our ‘gold standard’ system architectural design and cloud hosting platform.
  • An easy, no cost migration path, including a full data transfer, will be offered to users with a current support agreement moving from Front Desk to PracSuite.
  • Previews of PracSuite will begin mid-2019, with an expected release date in the second half of 2019 when all our feature and quality standards are met.
  • A survey will be sent to all Front Desk users over the next few weeks to help further gain customer insights into what is important to you so that we can set priorities for this new project.
A truly professional online practice management system is just over the horizon!

Kind regards

Would love to hear any update regarding this cloud based management system.  Will it integrate with any accounting software?

Hi Adeline

Thank you for your post. I am happy to report that the PracSuite development is going well with the product shaping up to the Smartsoft high standards that you’re used to.  The site looks great, the workflows are excellent and the configuration options will cater to real-world practice management needs. We are looking forward to being able to show it to our users.

At this stage, Xero integration is confirmed with the possibility of MYOB integration if there is enough demand.

Hi Adeline. Due to the nature of software development, we can't provide an exact release date, though we're aiming to launch PracSuite in the second half of 2019. We're looking forward to providing users with a sneak peek in the coming months!

Could you survey FD users to find out what account system they use? I see you have just done Xero but is that the main account package your users use or is it MYOB? Sounds like its easier for your works to work with from what I have read in the community pages but is it what the majority need? I understand it will come down to how many people reply to the survey, but if worded correctly the reason why you neeed this info you may have some success. Being an MYOB user it just is double handling for us in entering data.

Hi Justin. We haven't ruled out an integration with MYOB, though the demand was certainly less than Xero based on the recent survey and feedback collected on our helpdesk.

Hi, I'm currently using Front Desk but am looking into acquiring an additional messenger system for the team as we need more organised communication. As we plan to move to PracSuite, before we dive into using a third party product, could you tell me bit more about the expected capabilities of the PracSuite messenger system? - Thanks

Hi Kerri-ann. Front Desk includes an Office Messenger application, which works in conjunction with Front Desk on your desktop and on an iOS/Android mobile device e.g. iPhone, iPad, Samsung Galaxy etc. I can confirm that we plan to have instant messaging functionality in PracSuite.

Hi Maryann. No pricing has been set for PracSuite at this stage. We definitely plan on having full Medicare/DVA Online claiming functionality in PracSuite at some stage. Currently, Medicare is working on a new integration platform for cloud-based software. Rather integrating PracSuite with an older integration, we will be waiting for Medicare to release their new integration platform.

Hi we are trying as much as possible to create a paperless practice, at the moment I like to hand write on paper when i am talking to patients and then have to transfer it into my clinical notes, to help with this i currently have a attachment through word and use the drawing function with stylist pen and a tablet computer to stop the use of so much paper. Will PracSuite have a function where a draw function is integrated into the clinical note section?

Hi all. Development on PracSuite is progressing well and we are working towards an initial launch at the end of 2019. As previously confirmed, Smartsoft will soon be offering both desktop and cloud-based allied-health practice management software with Front Desk and PracSuite respectively. Click the images below for a sneak preview!

We were always drawn to Cliniko because of it's cost & being fully cloud based. We stopped because it didn't integrate with DVA/Medicare. There are ways around it but it's pretty "clunky" & relatively time consuming. Frontdesk's current process with DVA/Medicare claiming is ideal so if PracSuite is not going to have that functionality, we wouldn't be looking to swap over unfortunately - even though we would like to. We have Frontdesk hosted by Hostus so we are "cloud based" but it is also very costly. There are so many things to consider when choosing the right PMS & whether to swap to a different platform. And again not a criticism, Pracsuite looks nice but until we see how the functionality is compared with Frontdesk, we'll keep watching how Frontdesk & other PMS develop.

I agree 110% with Mark.  Frontdesk's current process with Medicare/DVA is AMAZING.  If PracSuite does not have the same Medicare/DVA intergration, it would be very disappointing and would be a big factor in us NOT using PracSuite and using another Cloud based program.  Again, as Mark said, hosting FrontDesk in a cloud system is VERY costly and not maintainable long term.

Hi Mark

Thank you for stimulating some discussion on Pracsuite. Currently, Medicare is revising their new claiming PMS interface, and once this is ratified, we will include this functionality in Pracsuite.

Front Desk has 20 years of software development under the hood, so it will take some time for Pracsuite to have all the like-for-like features. Having said this, starting with a clean slate and a new platform has allowed us to add some new and exciting features not easily possible in Front Desk.

Our focus will be on adding value for our users through quality products and support rather than having the ‘cheapest’ offering. As an example, we will not be supporting out-of-office workers, such as support staff taking calls from home, accessing your data in an unsupervised environment. Further, our integrations will work as intended in real-world situations, which I believe may not be the experience industry wide.

After Pracsuite is released, we will be publishing a roadmap of future developments in the next 12 months to help users considering migration to the new product plan their entry point.

Thanks Tony. Appreciate the update! Look forward to the official release. Appreciate the difficulty of officially predicting release dates - for us I don't think we'd look to swap over until Medicare is integrated. I also assume that there might be greater connection or opportunities with 3rd parties like Physitrack & Cliniqapps???

Hi Mark

The new platform will allow for access to cloud API's by 3rd parties. The API's will be available to approved vendors that meet our data use and privacy policies. Both the Pracsuite end-user and Smartsoft will need to authorise access to user data held in the system.

As an update, we are currently in discussions with ClinicApps as a possible early integrator.

I note you had a recent demo of Pracsuite with Tim. What was your initial thoughts on the "look and feel" and overall quality of the product?

Hi Tony,

Just wondering when there is a more concrete release for pracsuite. I have to update my server by Jan 2020, as Server 2008Microsoft won't be supported by updates after this date. So I am looking to update frontdesk to pracsuite long before this date to avoid having to use a server, as the main reason I use a server was to service frontdesk.
Any ideas when we will see a rollout, as 'end of the year' is close. You can write off Dec with holidays and xmas rush, as major changes need support and I would bet a Dec rollout won't happen
Cheers Dean

Hi Dean

Thanks for your interest in Pracsuite. We plan a soft release of Pracsuite late this year together with a roadmap of future developments on the product, which will happen quite quickly over 2020.

Due to individual needs, it would be best that you contact our business care team, who can give you a better indication to your enquiry based on your current use of Front Desk. They may even give you a peek of the development Pracsuite system :). I suggest you will not need to be concerned about renewing your current IT infrastructure.

regards
Tony
