Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent PracSuite user survey. With the information gathered we were able to gain some excellent insight into what is important to our users to set priorities for the PracSuite project.
We want to take this opportunity to address some key questions that were raised in response to the survey.
Will you continue to develop and support the Front Desk product?
Yes. We have two development teams at Smartsoft, one working on Front Desk and one dedicated to the new PracSuite product, with some crossover of senior staff working in both projects. We see no change in the future ongoing development and support of the Front Desk product.
I’m happy with Front Desk, do I need to move to PracSuite?
No. Smartsoft will be offering both desktop (Front Desk) and cloud browser-based (PracSuite) systems, each with their advantages and disadvantages. Further, there has been over 20 years of continual development work on Front Desk, which will make it the more comprehensive product for some time in the future. Based on individual needs, either the Front Desk or PracSuite product may suit you best.
Am I missing out by not moving to a browser-based PMS software?
For most users – No. Though there is some buzz regarding cloud-based products, most professional PMS systems in the Australian health industry are still desktop based. This can be best seen in the GP private practice industry that is currently still almost exclusively desktop based. Desktop-based systems provide you better control of who has and is managing your data, better connection to external interfaces, richer and faster user interfaces, no requirement of for a stable internet connection and depending on your organisational structure, often lower cost of ownership.
Will I be able to migrate all of my existing Front Desk Data?
Yes. Smartsoft will be providing an easy, no cost migration path, including a full data transfer for users on a current support agreement moving from Front Desk to PracSuite.
