Preferred name tag divert to the First Name

If the preferred name tag <> is used in a letter, Email or Text is there a way it can divert to the First Name <> if the preferred name is empty in the clients file?

Hi Robin

There are two “preferred name” Standard Letter Tags in Front Desk. I believe the one you are using is ‘PreferredName’. This is a legacy tag, which we have left in the system so that anyone using it wouldn’t have detrimental effects of leaving it in their templates. The letter tag which you should use so that the first name populates where there is no preferred name entered is ‘PrefName’.
