recording completed clinical notes

Have you considered a finish button for clinical notes so clinicians have a quick way of ensuring all the days clinical notes have been completed? The current list "without clinical notes"  via the practitioners tab in diary only tells you that the notes have been started.

Great Idea Tony, 

I see it as more than the clinical note though eg if a referral letter was required etc the completed button would be after everything for that patient had been actioned for the current day.

I currently put a y in the note section of the appointment (assuming you don't already use this section) to indicate that a chart is finished for the day so at a glance I can see what I need to action but your suggestion is much better and frees up the note section for it's original purpose.

Hi Tony. We're happy to monitor the interest in your idea. Our belief is that adding an extra step to the note taking process is not required and that best practice would be to complete the notes at the time of consultation on the day.

As a suggestion, you might use our appointment status feature to record completion of clinical notes. 

Default settings will mark an appointment as 'Completed' when billed, however you will want uncheck this option in System Information > Appointment Book > Statuses > Defaults

When you've finished writing your clinical note you can change the appointment status manually.The appointment status can be changed from the diary or from the practitioner queue in the clinical notes area if your admin staff are marking patients as arrived.

Right click on the patient appointment on the diary

At a glance on the diary you will then be able to see the colour status indicator to the left of each appointment telling you what appointments have been marked a completed.

This will not affect your admin staff's ability to see which patients haven't been billed as the whole appointment colour will still change to reflect this.

Imagining a button you click on to indicate the notes have been completed, clinical I'd support Tony's idea. (We already use status = completed to indicate that the payment is completed. The latter is done by reception, whereas this suggestion is done by the practitioner, so a different process).
