Rule out does not stop patients booking online

At present, if we rule out a section in a practitioner's column, a patient can still book online during this time, using the patient booking gateway. To stop this happening, we either need to put in a casual appointment or write a new rule. It would be handy if the 'rule out' would be all that is required.

Hi Brandon

In order for an Appointment Book rule to block patients from booking on-line, please ensure the option 'Available for Scheduler/Waiting List/Booking Gateway' is unchecked on the rule.

If this option is enabled, patients will be able to book on-line in that rule area.
Available for Scheduler/Waiting List/Booking Gateway:
Allows appointments via the Appointment Scheduler, Waiting List and Patient Booking Gateway to be created within the rule area.

Alternatively, if another rule has been placed higher in the rules hierarchy, it will take precedence over your 'unavailable' rule. For this reason I recommend adding 'Display Text' as above so you can clearly see which rule is in effect on the Appointment Book.

Thank you. What I am referring to is the ability to use the rule out feature in a pracitioners column instead, to make this process quick and easy eg someone might ring up sick and any receptionist is able to quickly perform a rule out for that practitioners so noone can book online with them. (We restrict the writing rule process to only a few at our clinic.)

Thanks Brandon.

After re-reading your post I understand what you're saying. With the manual 'Rule Out' option of the Appointment Book it should certainly stop patients from booking on-line during that period.

We aren't aware of any problems with the rule-out function and on-line bookings, and from some quick testing on my part it appears to be working as intended.

It could be something unique to your set-up or workflow. If you could please open a support case using one of the available options on our website we would be happy to look into this further: www.smartsoft.com.au/support

I agree with Brandon. Adding a rule is quite inefficient for 1 off or irregular unavailable times.
