scanning 2-sided documents onto FrontDesk

Our practice has just installed a new printer and have linked it with our Front Desk program. The new printer allows us to scan double-sided documents, all the scan settings are defaulted onto the printer just fine but we are having some issues with being able to scan 2-sided documents into "attachments" on Front Desk. When we select "scan" the 2 sided scanning option is blurred and we are not allowed to click the box to allow 2-sided scanning. Does anyone know how to fix this dilemma?

Front Desk does support duplex scanning, but only when using compatible TWAIN drivers. You can select between WIA and TWAIN in Front Desk from the Scan window as below, which will display the available devices using that scanner type.

As a general rule, if you are able to duplex scan within Microsoft Paint while using TWAIN drivers (not WIA) you should be able to do the same in Front Desk.  If you aren’t able to duplex scan in Paint using TWAIN drivers alone, or you need to use device specific software to scan both sides at once, it’s possible your scanner isn’t installed correctly or doesn’t support the necessary drivers.

That said, this only means you wouldn't be able to duplex scan directly into Front Desk.  You always still have option of scanning to a local folder on your computer, and then attaching the document to the patient file via the Attachments tab.
