Searching for a cheque or group deposit number

Is there any way (other than putting in dates) to find a specific cheque/group deposit number? I find it very time consuming having to put in dates (especially when I am chasing up 3 year old debts) and having to trawl through numbers/amounts when I could just put in the number off the remittance advice and go straight to the particular payments I want to look at. If there is no other way than the date function - could you look at adding this function to an upgrade please? I'm sure those of us that are doing the accounts through FD would find it very helpful

Hi Mandi

Currently cheques and group deposits are sorted only by date.

If you would like to search by the cheque Number, one option might be to extend the Date Range to something large which will ensure the cheque you are searching for is listed.

Then you could Export the extended list to Excel, where you can easily search by the amount, drawer, bank, branch, number or balance. This doesn't list the patient information linked to the cheque, but depending on your workflow it might be useful.

If this isn't quite suitable, we can still convert this conversation to an Idea and gauge interest.  Was it the cheque number in particular you want to search by?

Hi Andrew - thanks for the reply. Ideally the cheque/remittance number is entered correctly into FD, so it can be searched for, however that doesn't always happen, so searching on amount of payment would also be helpful - I do extend the dates out, however it is a large amount of cheques/payments to look through. I would be interested to see if anyone else would find this function helpful
