Transferring transaction information to Xero Accounting - how much is too much?

We would like to know how much information others are currently transferring from Front Desk to Xero. Do you create invoices in Xero that show all transactions (paid and unpaid) or do you just do an invoice for only transactions for which you have received payments on that day? Do you list all transactions ( i.e individual item numbers) or do you just show one figure for income and then break it down into payment types. Interested to find out how what we are currently doing compares to others. Thanks :)

Hi - we generate a summary of received payments for the day and put the total amount as an invoice  into Xero as "Daily Takings" and then apply the payments to that invoice in each category ie EFTPOS, Hicaps, Medicare, DVA and then itemise the direct deposits... takes about 4 mins at the end of the day so not too time consuming.  We are new to Xero having used Quickbooks and absolutely love it.

We use a similar approach to Geelong Hand Therapy, but use automatic bank feeds into Xero and match these with the end of day figures for card and HICAPS, then weekly banking figures for the cash component.  Otherwise I find there's too many transactions to enter.  Hope it helps!
Agreed - I've got Xero love, too! :)

I am doing a process similar to what Rebecca describes.  The most complicated bit I find is accounting for the handful of sales that include GST.  vast majority of psychologist fees are GST free but a few things like report writing are not.

We also love Xero. But per our accountant, we arent doing any sales into Xero.  We just PDF a monthly and quarterly billings report for the business from Frontdesk and provide them with an update on the 30th June for all transactions incoming and sales.
