Did you know there’s an alternative to HICAPS? Smartsoft has partnered with Tyro to offer Front Desk users choice and value when it comes to Health Fund claiming. 

Tyro’s HealthPoint solution is integrated with Front Desk, offering: 

  • Card Payments – Tyro EFTPOS terminals communicate directly with Front Desk so there is no need for you to manually type in payment amounts or touch the terminal at all. This speeds up the invoicing process and effectively removes the chance of keying errors so that end of day EFTPOS and Front Desk totals always match up.

  • Private Health Fund Claims – you can process Private Health Fund Claims via Front Desk. There is no need to waste time manually entering data into the terminal. 

  • Patient Paid Medicare Easyclaim – you can provide privately billed patients with a Medicare rebate that is paid into their chosen bank account in just 11 seconds 

  • Bulk Bill Easyclaim – allows you to eliminate batching and paper from your bulk bill process 

  • Multi-merchant functionality – bank accounts for all of your practitioners can be added to one EFTPOS terminal at no extra cost. With Tyro there is no need to juggle multiple terminals at the front desk and the risk of billing to the wrong practitioner’s account is dramatically reduced.

How does Tyro HealthPoint work?
Tyro is the direct provider of debit, credit, and EFTPOS acquiring services and Medicare Easyclaim. Tyro delivers Health Fund claiming services via a gateway access service to the Health Funds that is provided by CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation).

How are Health Fund payments settled with Tyro? I’ve heard its challenging! 
In response to customer feedback, Tyro has overhauled the way it settles Health Fund transactions. All Health Fund payments are now consolidated to provide a single deposit per Practitioner for each business day. This deposit is made on the second business day after the claims are processed. For example, Health Fund claims processed on Monday will be paid to your nominated bank account on Wednesday. 

Do Tyro’s terminals require a phone line? 
Tyro terminals operate over the internet so there is no phone line required. Tyro terminals connect to your modem or network via an Ethernet cable. They also need a power connection.
How does Tyro price?

Can I surcharge with Tyro? 
Yes – Tyro offers dynamic surcharging based on the kind of card presented by your client e.g. Visa, MasterCard, American Express. Tyro’s Account Management team can provide advice on what level of surcharge is appropriate for your practice and in line with rules set by the Reserve Bank of Australia.

During a transaction the Tyro terminal will recognise the kind of card being used and apply the correct surcharge. The invoice amount is receipted off in Front Desk as usual and Tyro retains the surcharge amount and uses it to offset your bill at the end of the month. For example, if your Tyro bill is $200 but you have collected $50 worth of surcharge, you will only be debited for the remaining $150. 

What documents are required to set up Private Health Fund claiming with Tyro? 
In addition to the standard Tyro EFTPOS Banking Application form, practices wishing to use Tyro’s HealthPoint solution must also complete a CSC Health Fund Registration form (provided by Tyro) and submit a copy of each Provider’s confirmation of registration for the relevant practice and modality with their application. 
The Medicare Australia registration letter is required for the following modalities: chiropractors, dietitians, dentists, dental prosthesis, optometrists, optical dispensers, occupational therapists, osteopaths, physiotherapists, podiatrists, psychologists & speech pathologists.
Naturopaths, remedial massage therapists & acupuncturists must submit a copy of their Medibank Private Provider letters. 

What is the Health Fund coverage of Tyro HealthPoint? 
Tyro HealthPoint covers the following health funds, which together service 98% of the insured population (according to the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman (PHIO) 2012-13 Annual Report):
Medibank, BUPA, HCF, HBF, NIB, AHM, Australian Unity, Teachers Health Fund, UniHealth, GMHBA, Frank, Defence Health, CBHS, WestFund, Healthguard, GMF, Latrobe, HIF, CUA, Peoplecare, RT Health, TUH, Navy Health, Police Health, Queensland Country Health, ACA Health Benefits, onemedifund, RACT, Budget Direct Health, health.com.au.

Tyro HealthPoint does not currently cover these funds: 
HCI, St Lukes Health, Health Partners, Phoenix Health Fund, Reserve Bank, Transport Health, Doctors Health Fund, MDHA, GU Health
